Nesta quarta-feira (17.04), às 18hs, será realizada no pátio do Comando Geral da Polícia Militar, em Cuiabá, a celebração do Dia de Tiradentes, o patrono das policiais militares. As comemorações estão sendo antecipadas em função dos feriados da Semana Santa e porque o dia de Tiradentes será no domingo.
Além da formatura militar, com desfile de policiais das diversas unidades e de viaturas, tradicionalmente o dia 21 é uma data de anúncio de promoções. É quando o Governo do Estado, por meio do Comando Geral da Polícia Militar, divulga a lista dos militares que ascenderam na carreira.
Este ano estão sendo promovidos 1.124 policiais. Junto com o aniversário de criação em 05 de setembro, o 21 de abril é a data mais importante para a Polícia Militar mato-grossense, quando ocorrem as promoções na carreira.
Este ano, além dos policiais desfilando, da presença de autoridades e da comunidade, haverá um pequeno pelotão de meninos e meninas fardadas. São filhos de policiais que internalizaram em suas famílias o orgulho por integrar as fileiras da PMMT.
As promoções dos oficiais foram publicadas no Diário Oficial desta terça-feira. A tendência é de que nas edições dos próximos dias, o Governo publique as promoções dos praças.

No início deste ano, existia um temor da corporação de que não ocorressem as promoções – tanto na PM quanto no Corpo de Bombeiros – por conta da crise financeira que o Estado passa. Isso porque, a ascenção na carreira de militares implicará no aumento da folha de pagamento.
Em março, o chefe do Executivo suspendeu cinco promoções no Corpo de Bombeiros. Contudo, a alegação é de que os militares estavam prestes a entrar para a reserva remunerada.
Patrono
Joaquim José da Silva Xavier, o Tiradentes é o patrono das polícias. Seu apelido faz referência à função que ele exercia, de dentista. Ele era um militar que se tornou herói da inconfidência mineira, um movimento ocorrido nos séculos XVII e XVIII que tinha como objetivo a separação do Brasil do domínio de Portugal. Morto por enforcamento no dia 21 de abril de 1792, somente em 1890 teve seus feitos reconhecidos por bravura.
Dentre os promovidos está o Comandante da Polícia Militar de Sorriso, Jorge Luiz de Almeida, que passou ao posto de Tenente-Coronel, o penúltimo posto dentro da estrutura da Polícia Militar do Estado de Mato Grosso.
