De acordo com a propositura, a finalidade é propiciar à população carente uma alimentação a preços acessíveis e com qualidade nutricional, sem a obtenção de lucro.
Ainda segundo a Indicação nº 503/22, o restaurante popular funcionará com produtos hortifrutigranjeiros obtidos pelo município junto às feiras de produtores e mercearias, dentro do volume excedente e das sobras de comercialização, bem como, por meio da aquisição dos alimentos dos pequenos e médios produtores participantes do Programa de Agricultura Familiar.
“Queremos que haja uma oferta de refeições nutricionalmente balanceadas e seguras, e com preço acessível a todos. No mesmo espaço do restaurante devem ser realizadas atividades de educação alimentar, como, por exemplo, palestras sobre valor nutricional dos alimentos, oficinas de aproveitamento e combate ao desperdício de alimentos e realização de campanhas educativas”, frisou o vereador.
