Os espelhos das redações do Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio (Enem) 2018 foram disponibilizados aos candidatos nesta terça-feira (19) pelo Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (Inep).

Dos mais de 4 milhões de participantes, 55 tiraram nota mil, sendo que as mulheres responderam por 42 das redações com nota máxima. O tema da redação no Enem 2018 foi “Manipulação do comportamento do usuário pelo controle de dados na internet”.

Lucas Felpi, 17 anos

No livro “1984” de George Orwell, é retratado um futuro distópico em que um Estado totalitário controla e manipula toda forma de registro histórico e contemporâneo, a fim de moldar a opinião pública a favor dos governantes. Nesse sentido, a narrativa foca na trajetória de Winston, um funcionário do contraditório Ministério da Verdade que diariamente analisa e altera notícias e conteúdos midiáticos para favorecer a imagem do Partido e formar a população através de tal ótica. Fora da ficção, é fato que a realidade apresentada por Orwell pode ser relacionada ao mundo cibernético do século XXI: gradativamente, os algoritmos e sistemas de inteligência artificial corroboram para a restrição de informações disponíveis e para a influência comportamental do público, preso em uma grande bolha sociocultural.

Em primeiro lugar, é importante destacar que, em função das novas tecnologias, internautas são cada vez mais expostos a uma gama limitada de dados e conteúdos na internet, consequência do desenvolvimento de mecanismos filtradores de informação a partir do uso diário individual. De acordo com o filósofo Zygmund Baüman, vive-se atualmente um período de liberdade ilusória, já que o mundo digitalizado não só possibilitou novas formas de interação com o conhecimento, mas também abriu portas para a manipulação e alienação vistas em “1984”. Assim, os usuários são inconscientemente analisados e lhes é apresentado apenas o mais atrativo para o consumo pessoal.

Por conseguinte, presencia-se um forte poder de influência desses algoritmos no comportamento da coletividade cibernética: ao observar somente o que lhe interessa e o que foi escolhido para ele, o indivíduo tende a continuar consumindo as mesmas coisas e fechar os olhos para a diversidade de opções disponíveis. Em um episódio da série televisiva Black Mirror, por exemplo, um aplicativo pareava pessoas para relacionamentos com base em estatísticas e restringia as possibilidades para apenas as que a máquina indicava – tornando o usuário passivo na escolha. Paralelamente, esse é o objetivo da indústria cultural para os pensadores da Escola de Frankfurt: produzir conteúdos a partir do padrão de gosto do público, para direcioná-lo, torná-lo homogêneo e, logo, facilmente atingível.

Portanto, é mister que o Estado tome providências para amenizar o quadro atual. Para a conscientização da população brasileira a respeito do problema, urge que o Ministério de Educação e Cultura (MEC) crie, por meio de verbas governamentais, campanhas publicitárias nas redes sociais que detalhem o funcionamento dos algoritmos inteligentes nessas ferramentas e advirtam os internautas do perigo da alienação, sugerindo ao interlocutor criar o hábito de buscar informações de fontes variadas e manter em mente o filtro a que ele é submetido. Somente assim, será possível combater a passividade de muitos dos que utilizam a internet no país e, ademais, estourar a bolha que, da mesma forma que o Ministério da Verdade construiu em Winston de “1984”, as novas tecnologias estão construindo nos cidadãos do século XXI.

Clara de Jesus, 19 anos

“Black Mirror” é uma série americana que retrata a influência da tecnologia no cotidiano de uma sociedade futura. Em um de seus episódios, é apresentado um dispositivo que atua como uma babá eletrônica mais desenvolvida, capaz de selecionar as imagens e sons que os indivíduos poderiam vivenciar. Não distante da ficção, nos dias atuais, existem algoritmos especiais ligados em filtrar informações de acordo com a atividade “online” do cidadão. Por isso, torna-se necessário o debate acerca da manipulação comportamental do usuário pelo controle de dados na internet.

Primeiramente, é notável que o acesso a esse meio de comunicação ocorre de maneira, cada vez mais, precoce. Segundo pesquisa divulgada pelo IBGE, no ano de 201, apenas 35% dos entrevistados, que apresentavam idade igual ou superior a 10 anos, nunca haviam utilizado a internet. Isso acontece porque desde cedo a criança tem contato com aparelhos tecnológicos que necessitam da disponibilidade de uma rede de navegação, que memoriza cada passo que esse jovem indivíduo dá para traçar um perfil de interesse dele e, assim, fornecer assuntos e produtos que tendem a agradar ao usuário. Dessa forma, o uso da internet torna-se uma imposição viciosa para relações sócio-econômicas.

Em segundo lugar, o ser humano perde sua capacidade de escolha. Conforme o conceito de “Mortificação do Eu”, do sociólogo Erving Goffman, é possível entender o que ocorre na internet que induz o indivíduo a ter um comportamento alienado. Tal preceito afirma que, por influência de fatores coercitivos, o cidadão perde seu pensamento individual e junta-se a uma massa coletiva. Dentro do contexto da internet, o usuário, sem perceber, é induzido a entrar em determinados sites devido a um “bombardeio” de propagandas que aparece em seu dispositivo conectado. Evidencia-se, portanto, uma falsa liberdade de escolha quanto ao que fazer no mundo virtual.

Com o intuito de amenizar essa problemática, o Congresso Nacional deve formular leis que limitem esse assédio comercial realizado por empresas privadas, por meio de direitos e punições aos que descumprirem, a fim de acabar com essa imposição midiática. As escolas, em parceria com as famílias, devem inserir a discussão sobre esse tema tanto no ambiente doméstico quanto no estudantil, por intermédio de palestrantes, com a participação de psicólogos e especialistas, que debatam acerca de como agir “online”, com o objetivo de desenvolver, desde a infância, a capacidade de utilizar a tecnologia a seu favor. Feito isso, o conflito vivenciado na série não se tornará realidade.

É fato que a tecnologia revolucionou a vida em sociedade nas mais variadas esferas, a exemplo da saúde, dos transportes e das relações sociais. No que concerne ao uso da internet, a rede potencializou o fenômeno da massificação do consumo, pois permitiu, por meio da construção de um banco de dados, oferecer produtos de acordo com os interesses dos usuários. Tal personalização se observa, também, na divulgação de informações que, dessa forma, se tornam, muitas vezes, tendenciosas. Nesse sentido, é necessário analisar tal quadro, intrinsecamente ligado a aspectos educacionais e econômicos.

É importante ressaltar, em primeiro plano, de que forma o controle de dados na internet permite a manipulação do comportamento dos usuários. Isso ocorre, em grande parte, devido ao baixo senso crítico da população, fruto de uma educação tecnicista, na qual não há estímulo ao questionamento. Sob esse âmbito, a internet usufrui dessa vulnerabilidade e, por intermédio de uma análise dos sites mais visitados por determinado indivíduo, consegue rastrear seus gostos e propor notícias ligadas aos seus interesses, limitando, assim, o modo de pensar dos cidadãos. Em meio a isso, uma analogia com a educação libertadora proposta por Paulo Freire mostra-se possível, uma vez que o pedagogo defendia um ensino capaz de estimular a reflexão e, dessa forma, libertar o indivíduo da situação a qual encontra-se sujeitado – neste caso, a manipulação.

Cabe mencionar, em segundo plano, quais os interesses atendidos por tal controle de dados. Essa questão ocorre devido ao capitalismo, modelo econômico vigente desde o fim da Guerra Fria, em 1991, o qual estimula o consumo em massa. Nesse âmbito, a tecnologia, aliada aos interesses do capital, também propõe aos usuários da rede produtos que eles acreditam ser personalizados. Partindo desse pressuposto, esse cenário corrobora o termo “ilusão da contemporaneidade” defendido pelo filósofo Sartre, já que os cidadãos acreditam estar escolhendo uma mercadoria diferenciada mas, na verdade, trata-se de uma manipulação que visa ampliar o consumo.

Infere-se, portanto, que o controle do comportamento dos usuários possui íntima relação com aspectos educacionais e econômicos. Desse modo, é imperiosa uma ação do MEC, que deve, por meio da oferta de debates e seminários nas escolas, orientar os alunos a buscarem informações de fontes confiáveis como artigos científicos ou por intermédio da checagem de dados, com o fito de estimular o senso crítico dos estudantes e, dessa forma, evitar que sejam manipulados. Visando ao mesmo objetivo, o MEC pode, ainda, oferecer uma disciplina de educação tecnológica nas escolas, através de sua inclusão na Base Comum Curricular, causando um importante impacto na construção da consciência coletiva. Assim, observar-se-ia uma população mais crítica e menos iludida.

Vanessa Tude, 19 anos

O mundo conheceu novos equipamentos ao longo do processo de industrialização, com destaque para os descobrimentos da Terceira Revolução Industrial, que possibilitou a expansão dos meios de comunicação e controle de dados em inúmeros países. Entretanto, as ferramentas recém descobertas foram utilizadas de forma inadequada, como por exemplo, durante a Era Vargas. Com efeito, a má utilização dessas tecnologias contribui com a manipulação comportamental dos usuários que se desenvolve devido não só à falta de informação popular como também à negligência governamental.

Primeiramente, vale ressaltar o efeito que a falta de informação possui na manipulação das pessoas. Consoante à Teoria do Habitus elaborada pelo sociólogo francês Pierre Bourdieu, a sociedade possui padrões que são impostos, naturalizados e, posteriormente, reproduzidos pelos indivíduos. Nessa perspectiva, a possibilidade da coleta de dados virtuais, como sites visitados e produtos pesquisados, por grandes empresas ocasiona a divulgação de propagandas específicas com o fito de induzir a efetivação da compra da mercadoria anunciada ou estimular um estilo de vida. Assim, o desconhecimento dessa realidade permite a construção de uma ilusão de liberdade de escolha que favorece unicamente as empresas. Dessa forma, medidas são necessárias para alterar a reprodução, prevista por Bourdieu, dessas estratégias comerciais que afetam negativamente inúmeros indivíduos.

Ademais, a influência de milhares de usuários se dá pela negligência e abuso de poder governamental. Durante a Era Vargas, a manipulação comportamental dos brasileiros foi uma realidade a partir da criação do Departamento de Imprensa e Propaganda que possuía a função de fiscalizar os conteúdos que seriam divulgados nos meios de comunicação usando o controle da população. Nos dias atuais, com o auxílio da internet, as pessoas estão mais expostas, uma vez que o governo possui acesso aos dados e históricos de navegação que possibilitam a ocorrência de uma obediência influenciada como ocorreu na Era Vargas. Desse modo, urge a extrema necessidade de alterações estruturais para a ocorrência de uma liberdade comportamental de todos.

Impende, portanto, que a manipulação do comportamento através do controle de dados na internet deixe de ser realidade. Nesse sentido, cabe ao Governo, por meio do aumento da parcela de investimentos com prioridade, fiscalizar e punir instituições que utilizem essa estratégia de direcionamento através de multas e aumento na cobrança de impostos. Essa inciativa tem a finalidade de propor o uso adequado das tecnologias descobertas durante, e posteriormente, a Terceira Revolução Industrial e, consequentemente, erradicar a manipulação comportamental dos indivíduos através dos dados coletados na internet.

A série britânica “Black Mirror” é caracterizada por satirizar a forma como a tecnologia pode afetar a humanidade. Dentre outros temas, o seriado aborda a influência dos algoritmos na opinião e no comportamento das personagens. Fora da ficção, os efeitos do controle de dados não são diferentes dos da trama e podem comprometer o senso crítico da população brasileira. Assim, faz-se pertinente debater acerca das consequências da manipulação do comportamento do usuário pelo controle de dados na internet.

Por um lado, a utilização de algoritmos possui seu lado positivo. A internet surgiu no período da Guerra Fria, com o intuito de auxiliar na comunicação entre as bases militares. Todavia, com o passar do tempo, tal ferramenta militar popularizou-se e abandonou, parcialmente, a característica puramente utilitária, adquirindo função de entretenimento. Hoje, a internet pode ser utilizada para ouvir músicas, assistir a filmes, ler notícias e, também, se comunicar. No Brasil, por exemplo, mais da metade da população está “conectada” – de acordo com pesquisas do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) -, o que significa a consolidação da internet no país e, nesse contexto, surge a relevância do uso de dados para facilitar tais ações.

Por outro lado, o controle de dados ressalta-se em seu lado negativo. Segundo o sociólogo Pierre Levy, as sociedades modernas vivem um fenômeno por ele denominado “Novo Dilúvio” – termo usado para caracterizar a dificuldade de “escapar” do uso da internet. Percebe-se que o conceito abordado materializa-se em apontamentos do IBGE, os quais expõem que cerca de 85% dos jovens entre 18 e 24 anos de idade utilizaram a ferramenta em 2016. Tal quadro é preocupante quando atrelado aos algoritmos, pois estes causam, principalmente, nos jovens a redução de sua capacidade crítica – em detrimento de estarem sempre em contato com informações unilaterais, no tocante ao ponto de vista, e pouco distoantes de suas próprias vivências e opiniões -, situação conhecida na Sociologia como “cognição preguiçosa” – a qual culmina na manipulação do ser.

Entende-se, portanto, que é necessário que a população entenda os riscos do controle de dados. Desse modo, cabe às escolas desenvolverem a percepção dos perigos da “cognição preguiçosa” para a formação da visão de mundo dos seus alunos, mediante aulas de informática unidas à disciplina de Sociologia – voltadas para uma educação não só técnica, mas social das novas tecnologias -, a fim de ampliar nos jovens o interesse por diferentes opiniões e, consequentemente, reduzir os efeitos adversos da problemática. Posto isso, será superado o controle do comportamento do usuário e não mais viveremos em um Brasil análogo à trama de “Black Mirror”.

Lívia Taumaturgo, 18 anos

Segundo as ideias do sociólogo Habermas, os meios de comunicação são fundamentais para a razão comunicativa. Visto isso, é possível mencionar que a internet é essencial para o desenvolvimento da sociedade. Entretanto, o meio virtual tem sido utilizado, muitas vezes, para a manipulação do comportamento do usuário, pelo controle de dados, podendo induzir o indivíduo a compartilhar determinados assuntos ou a consumir certos produtos. Isso ocorre devido `falha de políticas públicas efetivas que auxiliem o indivíduo a “navegar”, de forma correta, na internet, e à ausência de consciência, da grande parte da população, sobre a importância de saber utilizar adequadamente o meio virtual. Essa realidade constituiu um desafio a ser resolvido não somente pelos poderes públicos, mas também por toda a sociedade.

No contexto relativo à manipulação do comportamento do usuário, pode-se citar que no século XX, a Escola de Frankfurt já abordava sobre a “ilusão de liberdade do mundo contemporâneo”, afirmando que as pessoas eram controladas pela “indústria cultural”, disseminada pelos meios de comunicação de massa. Atualmente, é possível traçar um paralelo com essa realidade, visto que milhões de pessoas no mundo são influenciadas e, até mesmo, manipuladas, todos os dias pelo meio virtual, por meio de sistemas de busca ou de redes sociais, sendo direcionadas a produtos específicos, o que aumenta, de maneira significativa, o consumismo exacerbado. Isso é intensificado devido à carência de políticas públicas efetivas que auxiliem o indivíduo a “navegar” corretamente na internet, explicando-lhe sobre o posicionamento do controle de dados e ensinando-lhe sobre como ser um consumidor consciente.

Ademais, é importante destacar que grande parte da população não tem consciência da importância da utilização, de forma correta, da internet, visto que as instituições formadoras de conceitos morais e éticos não têm preconizado, como deveriam, o ensino de uma polarização digital”, como faz o projeto Digipo (“Digital Polarization Iniciative”), o qual auxilia os indivíduos a acessarem páginas comparáveis e, assim, diminui, o compartilhamento de notícias falsas, que, muitas vezes, são lançadas por moderadores virtuais. Nesse sentido, como disse o empresário Steve Jobs, “A tecnologia move o mundo”, ou seja, é preciso que medidas imediatas sejam tomadas para que a internet possa ser usada no desenvolvimento da sociedade, ajudando as pessoas a se comunicarem plenamente.

Portanto, cabe aos Estados, por meio de leis e de investimentos, com um planejamento adequado, estabelecer políticas públicas efetivas que auxiliem a população a “navegar”, de forma correta, na internet, mostrando às pessoas a relevância existente em utilizar o meio virtual racionalmente, a fim de diminuir, de maneira considerável, o consumo exacerbado, que é intensificado pela manipulação do comportamento do usuário pelo controle de dados. Além disso, é de suma importância que as instituições educacionais promovem, por meio de campanhas de conscientização, para pais e alunos, discussões engajadas sobre a imprescindibilidade de saber usar, de maneira cautelosa, a internet, entendendo a relevância de uma “polarização digital” para a concretização da razão comunicativa, com o intuito de utilizar o meio virtual para o desenvolvimento pleno da sociedade.

No livro Admirável Mundo Novo do escritor inglês Aldous Huxley é retratada uma realidade distópica na qual o corpo social padroniza-se pelo controle de informações e traços comportamentais. Tal obra fictícia, em primeira análise, diverge substancialmente da realidade contemporânea, uma vez que valores democráticos imperam. No entanto, com o influente papel atribuído à internet, configurou-se uma liberdade paradoxal tangente à regulamentação de dados. Assim, faz-se profícuo observar a parcialidade informacional e o consumo exacerbado como pilares fundamentais da problemática.

Em primeiro plano, a estruturação do meio cibernético fomenta a conjuntura regida pela denominada denominada pós-verdade, traduzida na sobreposição do conhecimento fundamentado por conotações subjetivas de teor apelativo. Nesse contexto, como os algoritmos das ferramentas de busca fornecem fontes correspondentes às preferências de cada usuário, cria-se uma assimilação unilateral, contendo exclusivamente aquilo que promove segurança emocional ao indivíduo e favorece a reprodução automatizada de pensamentos. Desse modo, com base nas premissas analíticas do escritor francês Guy Debord, pelo fato de o meio digital ser mediatizado por imagens, o sujeito é manipulado de forma alienante, mitigando do seu senso crítico e capacidade de compreender a pluralidade de opiniões.

Outrossim, A detenção de dados utilizada para a seleção de anúncios fomenta o fenômeno do consumismo. Sob esse viés, posto que a sociedade vigente é movida pelo desempenho laboral e pela autoexploração, como preconizou o filósofo sul-coreano Byung Chul-Han, o consumo apresenta-se como forma de aliviar as inquietações resultantes desse quadro e alternativa para uma felicidade imediata. Então, na medida em que os artigos publicitários exibidos na internet são direcionados individualmente, o estímulo à compra denota-se ainda mais magnificado, funcionando como fator adicional à busca por alívio paralelamente à construção de hábitos desequilibrados e prejudiciais.

Portanto, minimizar os impactos negativos da inserção no ciberespaço não se apresenta como tarefa fácil, porém, tornar-se-á possível por meio de uma abordagem educacional. Dessa forma, o Ministério da Educação deve elaborar um projeto de educação digital tendo com perspectiva basilar o ensino emancipatório postulado pelo filósofo alemão Theodor Adorno. Essa ação pode ser constituída por frequentes debates incluindo problematizações e a criação de reformulações conscientes relacionadas aos perigos delimitados pela manipulação do comportamento online nos ensinos Fundamental II e Médio das escolas públicas e particulares. Tal medida deve incluir a mediação de professores de Sociologia e Filosofia, além de especialistas em Cultura Digital, com o objetivo de modular nos alunos autonomia e criticidade no uso da internet. Enfim, será possível a construção de uma juventude responsável e dificilmente manipulada, sem nenhuma semelhança a obra de Aldous Huxley.

Maria Eduarda Fionda, 18 anos

George Orwell, em sua célebre obra “1984”, descreve uma distopia na qual os meios de comunicação são controlados e manipulados para garantir a alienação da população frente a um governo totalitário. Entretanto, apesar de se tratar de uma ficção, o livro de Orwell parece refletir, em parte, a realidade do século XXI, uma vez que, na atualidade, usuários da internet são constantemente influenciados por informações previamente selecionadas, de acordo com seus próprios dados. Nesse contexto, questões econômicas e sociais devem ser postas em vigor, a fim de serem devidamente compreendidas e combatidas.

Convém ressaltar, em primeiro plano, que o problema advém, em muito, de interesses econômicos. Segundo o sociólogo alemão Theodor Adorno, a chamada “Indústria Cultural”, visando o lucro, tende a massificar e uniformizar os gostos a partir do uso dos meios de comunicação. Sob esse viés, é possível depreender que a utilização de dados dos internautas por determinados grupos empresariais constitui uma estratégia de divulgação da produtos e pensamentos conforme seus interesses. Dessa maneira, ocorre a seleção de informações e propagandas favoráveis a essas empresas, levando o usuário a agir e consumir inconscientemente, de acordo com padrões estabelecidos por esses grupos.

Outrossim, o mau uso das novas tecnologias corrobora com a perpetuação dessa problemática. Sob a ótica do teórico da comunicação Marshall McLuhan, “os homens criam as ferramentas e as ferramentas recriam o homem”. Nessa perspectiva, é perceptível que o advento da internet, apesar de facilitar o acesso à informações, contribui com a diminuição do senso crítico acerca do conteúdo visualizado nas redes. Isso ocorre, principalmente, por conta do bombardeamento constante de propagandas e notícias, muitas vezes, sem a devida profundidade e sem o acompanhamento de análises de veracidade. Consequentemente, os internautas são cada vez menos estimulados a questionar o conteúdo recebido, culminando, então, em um ambiente favorável à manipulação de comportamentos.

É possível defender, portanto, que impasses econômicos e sociais constituem desafios a superar. Para tanto, o Poder Público deve restringir o acesso de empresas a dados pessoais de usuários da internet, por meio da elaboração de uma legislação eficaz referente ao problema. Ademais, a mídia, associada a ONGs, deve alertar a população sobre as mazelas de não questionar o conteúdo acessado em rede, por meio de campanhas educativas. Isso pode ocorrer com a realização de narrativas ficcionais engajadas, como novelas e seriados, e reportagens que tratem do tema, a fim de contribuir com o uso crítico das novas tecnologias. Assim, será possível restringir, de fato, a distopia de Orwell à ficção.
