A polícia de Delaware nos Estados Unidos informou que está investigando o caso da youtuber que devolveu o filho autista três anos após a adoção. Na semana passada, Myka Stauffer e seu marido, James de Columbus, causaram polêmica ao revelar que devolveram o menino Huxley cerca de três anos após ele ter sido adotado.
O casal havia adotado o pequeno Huxley em 2017 quando ele tinha quase dois anos. O menino é chinês e o processo de adoção internacional foi documentado por eles em seus canais no Youtube. No total, o casal fez 27 vídeos sobre a “jornada da adoção” e o número de seguidores deles cresceu justamente por conta da história de Huxley.
Por isso, internautas acusaram os youtubers de terem usado a adoção do garoto para conseguir mais seguidores e inscritos nos seus canais. O casal não revelou para onde Huxley foi, apenas informaram que o entregaram a uma nova família. Após a repercussão do caso, a polícia Delaware e agências de adoção estão investigando o caso.
Os policiais confirmaram ao Buzzfeed que estão procurando o menino e sua nova família. Eles também confirmaram que Huxley está sendo investigado. “Nós estamos cientes deste caso. Nós estamos investigando, mas este é um caso ativo e por isso nós não podemos divulgar muitas informações no momento”, afirmou a delegada Tracy Whited.
Segundo as autoridades, não está claro como o processo para que Huxley achasse um novo lar foi feito. Os policiais investigam se a nova adoção foi por meio de agência ou se algum órgão do governo participou do processo ou ainda se o casal apenas deu o menino para uma outra família, sem nenhum tipo de supervisão.
O vice-presidente da Associação de Pais e Crianças, Susan Soonkeum Cox, que auxiliou o casal na adoção de Huxley, não informou se eles participaram do processo para achar um novo lar para a criança. No entanto, ela criticou a maneira como o casal falou nas redes sociais sobre a devolução do menino.
