Um vídeo publicado no Twitter nesta terça-feira mostra o presidente do Atlético, Sérgio Sette Câmara, respondendo a um torcedor sobre a possibilidade de contratação de Diego Tardelli. Questionado em um avião, o dirigente descartou interesse no retorno do atacante ao Galo e justificou a idade do jogador como motivo.
“Fazer asilo aqui agora? Jogador de 36 anos”, disparou o mandatário, citando de forma errada a idade de Tardelli – ele tem 34 anos.
Na atual temporada, o Atlético se reforçou com jogadores jovens: o lateral-direito Mailton (21 anos), o volante Allan (22 anos) e o meia-atacante Dylan Borrero. Também chegou à Cidade do Galo o meia Hyoran, de 26 anos, por empréstimo. No entanto, na ‘era’ Sette Câmara, atletas experientes ou veteranos foram contratados, como o centroavante Ricardo Oliveira, então com 37 anos, e o zagueiro Réver, à época com 34.
Diego Tardelli rescindiu contrato com o Grêmio neste mês e ainda está sem clube. Na volta ao Brasil após passagem de quatro anos pelo Shandong Luneng, da China, o camisa 9 defendeu o Tricolor em 2019 e teve desempenho discreto: sete gols marcados em 47 jogos, sendo 27 como titular. O vínculo dele com o clube gaúcho era válido até o fim de 2021.
Ídolo da torcida, Diego Tardelli teve duas passagens pelo Atlético: de 2009 a 2011; e de 2013 a 2015. No Galo, o atacante foi campeão da Copa Libertadores (2013), da Recopa Sul-Americana (2014), da Copa do Brasil (2014), e duas vezes do Campeonato Mineiro (2010 e 2013). Ele marcou 110 gols em 219 partidas pelo Alvinegro.
